First things first - POOL ORIENTATION
Prior to enrolling in any of our dock diving classes or lessons, we require all pups and owners to sign our Pool Waiver and then attend an hour long pool orientation which will cover topics such as how to safely enter and exit the pool, keeping dogs and owners safe in the pool, keeping the pool safe from damage, how to prevent accidents and injuries, what the procedure is for accidents/injuries, bad weather, and a review of the Best in Show Dock Diving Pool rules. After all of the boring (but extremely important) stuff is out of the way, the remainder of the orientation will be focused on you and your pup! We will assess your dog for it’s current ability level for the pool, and then we’ll have some free time to help get your pup excited and ready for the pool!
There are three ability levels we will assess for.
Needs swimming lessons/familiarization with the pool and being in the water.
Needs dock diving lessons.
Has dock diving title/experience, and the owner can now privately rent the pool.
Please note, we have a no-force policy. If you push or throw your dog in the water, you will lose all access to the pool and forfeit any and all fees paid.

INTRO TO DOCK DIVING - CLASS
Intro to dock diving is a 4 week class, meeting weekly for 1 hour. Class size is limited to 4 pups, so that each dog and handler gets plenty of one-on-one time in the water.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This class will introduce you and your dog to the pool and start building a strong foundation of swimming and retrieving a toy in the water. We will build your dog’s confidence, and work on getting your dog comfortable with safely jumping off the ramp to retrieve their toy. We will help you learn how to motivate your dog to jump, and help you choose the best toys for you and your pup to work with. If your pup does well with the ramp, we will then move on to the dock. We will also work on developing a solid sit/stay, that will allow you to set your dog up for launch position on their dive, as well as improving recalls back to the handler after each dive. All while covering ways to help keep your dog fit and in optimal condition. Throughout the class, you will be provided with exercises you can work on at home so that you can build progress between our weekly classes. We also expect lots of fun, great photo ops, and happily tuckered out pups after class. At the end of the class semester, everyone will receive a Best in Show Dock Diving certificate of completion! Ultimately, this class should prepare participants for beginning competitions or even just a way for you and your pup to develop your bond and have a blast!
***Please make sure your pup is in relatively fit condition, and cleared by their vet for physical activity. Dock diving and swimming is relatively low impact, however it is an athletic endeavor. If your dog has any health concerns and you are unsure if dock diving/swimming would be safe for them, please consult your veterinarian. We most certainly are open to making adjustments and modifications for pups who may need them, but we want to make sure we are being fair in what we ask and expect from them as well.

INTERMEDIATE DOCK DIVING - CLASS
So, you’ve done the pool orientation and taken our Intro to Dock Diving Class and you’re still looking to further hone your pups skills while getting more practice in? Thankfully we have a solution for that! In our Intermediate Dock Diving class, we will build upon your pup’s foundation of swimming and retrieving in the water, while continuing to build your dog’s confidence as they learn to jump off the dock. We will practice exercises to help your dog “track” their toy, help them “pop” off the dock, and work on striding to enhance your dog’s take off at the end of the dock. Handlers will receive more instruction in this class to help refine their throwing skills for optimal jumping, and pointers to get your pup to jump their absolute best.

PRIVATE LESSONS
Group classes just aren’t your thing (or your dog’s)? Do you want more individualized, one-on-one instruction? Then private diving lessons might be the solution for you! With our trained instructor’s help and personalized training for your pup, you and your pup will learn teamwork, create a stronger bond, exercise, and most importantly begin learning how to overcome fear and obstacles. Since swimming and jumping are such rigorous exercises, private lessons will consist of 30 minutes of instructed diving time. That is, if you and your dog are up for the challenge!
